Sparrow Chocolates were sold 1892 – 1928. Because of the tray / product image hanging on the wall, it is in our opinion, from the late 1880s – early 1890s. Using product images within a picture was a short lived advertising fad / trick, encouraging consumers to put a sign on the wall of their home and routinely see the product. The manufacturer is not identified on the tray. History, per online resources: The H.F. Sparrow Co. operated from 1892 to 1907 and as Imperial Chocolates Co. 1907 – 1908, before joining the New England Confectionery Company aka NECCO, a trust formed in 1901. Online resources suggest production ended in 1928, however, we could not verify that. About 8 1/8 x 6 1/4 x 1/2 inches
Weight: 0.225 LB
Measurement: 8.125 x 6.25 IN
Depth: 0.5
Condition report:
Overall good. The areas of abrasion to the surface, primarily upper right in the field, that blend into the image and aren\'t readily noticed. The tray has not been clean and would likely benefit from it; however, you run the risk of the damage more readily showing.
