From online sources, L & N had extensive repair and manufacturing capabilities, notably at its large South Louisville Shops – opened in 1905 – which built hundreds of locomotives and thousands of railcars, serving as its primary shops for building, repairing, and overhauling its vast fleet of steam locomotives and rolling stock for decades. The facility was a central part of the L&N’s operations from 1905 until its closure by CSX in the 1980s. About 1 3/4 x 2 7/8 x 1 5/8 inches
