Hoyt Metal Company lead ingot advertising paperweight. Marked: Hoyt Metal Co. St Louis Genuine-A & R Hoyt and at the bottom, illegibly, NOT GENUINE WITHOUT SIGNATURE. And on the base: Registered U.S. Pat. Off. The Hoyt Metal Company was founded pre-1900. Their lead ingots were made to be melted and used to create other products. The company itself is associated – via online sales – with the manufacture of toy soldiers, pewter candlesticks, a cast chameleon / lizard paperweight for Sherwin Williams Paints, etc. The company also operated a shot tower in Granite City Illinois for the production of lead shot – pellets – for shotgun shells. ( The postcard pictured is not included in the sale. ) In 1905, the company merged with The Markle Lead Works and National Lead Company, thereafter operating as the National Lead Company.
