Lot 75 Hines Dog or Puppy Advertising Paperweight Hubley ?

Hines dog or puppy advertising paperweight. Polished steel. Hubley Manufacturing Co patented its Fido dog design in 1914 – as presented here, marked Hines and without Hubley attribution. History: Hubley Manufacturing Co made both paperweights and still banks using the design; there were six variations. The company stopped producing Fido pieces in 1946 as it transitioned from cast iron to modern toy materials. Some painted examples are marked ACCO – for American Chain and Cable Company – on the front and Hines Pup on the back. This example is polished steel with Hines cast into the back. We could not confirm, using online resources, who or what Hines refers to. It may – emphasize may – have been issued by Hines real estate – as a nod to the ACCO Hines Pup – when they redeveloped the American Chain and Cable Company industrial site in York, PA into the Penn-Mar Business Park. However, we can not confirm that. ( American Chain and Cable opened the York manufacturing facility in 1916. Operations there ceased in 1975. ) About 1 1/8 x 1 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches
