A painted cast iron paperweight from Climax Engineering Company Clinton Iowa. The Climax Engineering Company was a manufacturer of automotive, industrial, and marine engines. History, abbreviated from the Waukesha Engine Historical Society, Inc.: A predecessor was founded in 1900 as the Lamb Boat & Engine Company. In 1916, the company re-organized as the Climax Engineering Company. By 1929 the company was being run from offices in Chicago. Records indicate that in 1933 Climax and the Chrysler Corp. were jointly building gas engines. In 1942 the General Finance Co. of Chicago took over the company. Subsequently, it changed hands several times, manufactured a variety of products besides engines, and was eventually sold to Waukesha Engine Company in 1957. Waukesha kept the Clinton plant in operation for another 32 years before closing it down in December 1989. About 2 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 3 inches
