Leisy Brewing Co – copyright L. B. & Co. at bottom – reverse glass sign for Leisy’s Light Beer. As noted, Premium Beer Since 1862. Undated. Opinion: We believe that this sign is post pro 1940s – 1950s. Why? (1) Per Case Western University, Encyclopedia of Cleveland History: In the 1950s, Leisy Black Dallas malt liquor and Leisy Light, Dortmunder, and Mello-Gold beer were distributed in Ohio and 5 neighboring states. And (2) the labor intensive – costly – manufacture of reverse glass signs led to declining production beginning in the 1920s and, by the 1950s, replacement by cheaper alternatives, e.g., plastic signage. Leisy ceased operations in 1959. About 10 inches diameter.
