Lot 162 Wadell Equipment Company Precision Advertising Paperweight

The Wadell Equipment Company was founded in 1937 in Clark, New Jersey. The paperweight states Machined on the EMP – 110 Ultra Precision Automatic Chucker, an automated lathe. The paperweight is also marked Precision Paper Weight and features the company W logo. The company apparently manufactured ultra precision machine tools, machine tool accessories, and aircraft and missle equipment. Shortly before his death in 1949, the founder, George Wadell, sold the company to Massari Brothers Machine Company. The company apparently continued in operation under their auspices. A registration statement – to go public – was filed with the SEC in 1967. We find references to government contracts in the early 1980s. We do not believe the company is in business today. Per Google: A precision chucker ( or chucking lathe ) is a specialized machine tool designed for high-accuracy finishing, secondary machining operations, and fast production of parts that cannot be held between centers. It uses a collet or jaw chuck to rotate workpieces – like castings or forgings – while tools perform precise cutting or drilling, often managed by a turret. About 2 3/8 x 2 diameter inches
