Red Top Rye Whiskey, Ferdinand Westheimer & Sons Distillers paper advertisement. History: The Red Top Rye brand was owned by the Ferdinand Westheimer family of St. Joseph, Missouri. It was a prominent brand in the late 1800s and well into the 20th century. Distribution is dated to 1877, although he may have sold it earlier through his dry goods store, and ceased with Prohibition. One of many brands that did not survive. Operations included St. Joseph, Missouri, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Louisville, Kentucky. Interesting trivia: A son, one of eight children, founded Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. The Westheimer mansion in St. Joseph was saved from demolition, restored, and is now operated as a bed and breakfast ( Whiskey Mansion Inn ). Visible image 13 1/2 H inches x 9 1/2 W inches. Not examined out of the frame. There is a small - gray - area in the upper right corner that appears to be an inpainted scratch or small tear to the paper. Also, a couple of indents to the paper above the top.
