History: In 1902, the Egyptian Ideal Cigarette and Tobacco Works introduced Ramleh Turkish tobacco cigarettes. S. Anargyros, a subsidiary of The American Tobacco Company, acquired the brand and renamed it Helmar – the reverse of Ramleh – in 1907 to distance itself from competition. Helmar and competitors – Murad, Egyptian Deities, and Mogul among others – issued numerous highly collectible silks, leathers, and baseball cards. Over time, consumer preferences shifted to American tobacco blends, the Turkish brands lost market share, and Helmar was discontinued around 1966. About 3 3/4 x 21 1/2 x 1/2 inches

Overall, in excellent condition. We did not examine the sign out of the frame. The frame has wear consistent with age and use. The sign is in excellent condition. There is, however, a slight abrasion to the right of the cigarette package - beneath the H of Helmar
