An early BullDog – one word – Mutual Electric and Machine Co paperweight. MEC tag at neck for Mutual Electric Company. Likely made of copper or copper plated, given the traces of green patina. History, per online resources, Mutual Electric and Machine Co. ( M.E.M. Co. ), was founded in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1902, by the Frank brothers, inventors of a new positive contact system for knife switches ( a circuit breaker ). They branded their products with as BullDog. In 1915, most orders were coming from Detroit Michigan, so they moved the company there. After routinely receiving mail addressed to the BullDog Electric Company or BullDog Switches, Detroit, they changed the company name to BullDog Electric Products Co. BullDog Electric became a division of the I.T.E. Circuit Breaker Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1954. Gould, an automotive parts manufacturer, acquired I.T.E in 1976. And, in 1983, Gould was acquired by Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. The company ceased domestic operations in 2009. About 3 3/4 x 4 5/8 x 3 inches
